MTRONIQ Dual Gripper 45°
Dual Robotic Gripper for Automated CNC Lathe Loading and Unloading
MTRONIQ Dual Gripper 45° is a robotic end-of-arm tool for CNC lathe tending, combining two grippers in a compact assembly. One gripper carries the blank, while the other removes the finished part. This enables consecutive unloading and loading during a single entry into the machine’s working area, reducing the time between machining cycles.
Available as a standalone MTRONIQ product, the tool can be integrated into new robotic cells or used to automate existing CNC equipment.
Design and Functionality
The tool features two four-finger grippers with dedicated gripping fingers, a shared metal support body, and a robot mounting interface. The 45° configuration allows the robot to switch between the two grippers by changing its wrist orientation.
The compact arrangement facilitates access to the chuck and motion planning within the confined space of the CNC machine. The rigid support structure provides a stable mechanical connection between the robot and the grippers during part handling, insertion, and removal.
The gripping fingers are selected to suit the part geometry, required contact surfaces, and positioning method in the chuck. This allows the tool to be adapted to both the blank and the finished part.
How It Works
The robot picks up a new blank with the first gripper and prepares it for loading.
Once machining is complete, the second gripper removes the finished part from the chuck.
The robot changes the tool’s orientation and inserts the new blank.
After the robot clears the working area, the machine can start the next cycle while the robot transfers the finished part to the unloading position.
This sequence eliminates the need for the robot to return to the loading table for a new blank between unloading and reloading the machine.
Key Benefits
Faster part exchange — loading and unloading are performed consecutively using a single tool.
Reduced CNC machine waiting time — fewer additional robot movements between machining cycles.
Simultaneous handling of two parts — the tool can hold both the blank and the finished part during the exchange.
Compact design — facilitates integration within the lathe’s working area.
Adaptable gripping fingers — configured to suit part dimensions, geometry, and surface requirements.
Standalone product — suitable for CNC lathe tending solutions developed by MTRONIQ or other system integrators.
Integration and Configuration
The mounting interface, gripping fingers, and control arrangement are specified according to the selected robot and application. Configuration takes into account part weight and dimensions, robot payload capacity, chuck geometry, and available space inside the machine.
MTRONIQ Dual Gripper 45° is designed for repetitive loading and unloading of cylindrical blanks and turned parts, supporting applications ranging from small-batch production to extended automated operation.
